Assassination of Christian Federal Minister of Minorities affair, Martyr Shahbaz Bhatti

As you all know we have had a team serving food to persecuted Christians and people displaced due to the flooding. We recently received the following update from that team exemplifying how dangerous it is to be a Christian believer serving other Christians in Paksistan.

Federal minister of minorities’ affair Mr. Shahbaz Bhatti was assassinated by some extremist.

Mr. Shahbaz Bhatti was a bold, brave and fearless Christian Politician who was fighting for the cause of Christian rights in Pakistan. He was the only Christian voice on Government level that According an eye witnesses was going for the cabinet meeting called by the Prime Minister. He set out from her mother’s home after enquiring of her health. While he was on the way, a white car Mehran appeared and intercepted his way and three had his say. Shooters came out of the car and started shooting at Federal Minister Mr. Shahbaz Bhatti who was sitting in the back he was hit of about 25 bullets and gave his life at the spot but the driver was spared alive fortunately. Breedlove Food Distribution Among Widows and Needy Women

We received the following report from the Director of EIM in Pakistan.

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27

Following the word of God, we arranged meetings and called widows this month of December to support the widows for a Christmas season with the Breedlove food so that they can feed the children. It was such an awesome time to see the smile on their faces getting this food stuff. They were very happy and said thanks to EIM and Breedlove food on their sympathetic and loving step to donate this food.

Devastations by Floods in Pakistan

We received the following report from the Director of EIM in Pakistan.

"He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes to them receives many
curses." Proverbs 28:27

Pakistan encountered one of the worst natural disasters in its history in the shape of devastating floods. More than 20 million Pakistanis were affected by this catastrophe. One out of every nine Pakistanis has been affected. One fifth of the country is submerged; millions are without shelter, food and other items of basic survival. The damage to infrastructure, land not to mention hundreds of lives lost makes this calamity bigger than the 2004 Tsunami, 2005 Kashmir Earthquake and the 2010 Haiti Earthquake combined. So in such a worst condition what people needed most was to provide them food for their survival. And thanks God by the efforts of EIM leadership; God made it possible to meet the needs of the needy. EIM Partnered with Breedlove Foods and sent a 40 foot food container of dehydrated vegetable blend to Pakistan. We here in Pakistan distributed this food among the needy, and flood hit people and thanks God with Breedlove food thousands have been fed and still distribution is going.

EIM's Pakistan Update

Evangelistic International Ministries is getting word that the flooding disaster in Pakistan is much much larger than being reported, but they don't yet know how they will respond. Too soon to tell yet. Our container we already sent is still sitting in port, and won't be released due to red tape.

The container is in port in Pakistan and we are working on getting it out of port now.  We are hoping that it will be in Lahore next week and delivery will start shortly after.  I asked Jamshad to take pictures from the unloading to the distribution and get them to us.  So I will try to keep them coming to you so ya'll can have them.

Chicken Express donates to Breedlove for Pakistan

Chicken Express raised $3,455 dedicated to Pakistan through our Christmas fundraiser! We want to give a huge thanks to Robert and Stacey Kollman and everyone at Chicken Express for making this possible.

Robert Kollman, owner of four local Chicken Express restaurants, recently presented a check for $3,455 to Breedlove Foods Inc., a Lubbock nonprofit organization that creates and supplies dehydrated meals to food banks and missions in the U.S. and overseas. The money will equate to more than 69,000 servings of the dehydrated food Breedlove supplies to people in need, Kollman said. In December, Chicken Express employees invited customers to donate a dollar to the organization. In exchange, their children received a coloring sheet that was displayed on restaurant walls. Kollman said Chicken Express is planning a similar campaign over the Easter period

Pakistan Releif Project

DEAR FRIENDS,
As a young boy influenced by the adventures of the likes of Indiana Jones, I have been intrigued by the mysteriousness of exotic, far away lands, and their ancient cultures that seem somehow impervious to time. So, it was only natural that when the call came to get our food into the hands of Pakistanis in their time of need, I was intrigued and excited at the prospect. I am thankful for the opportunity to be involved in an effort that will provide a measure of hope, and touch the lives of so many who are in such desperate need in a time of turmoil that is hard for us westerners to fathom.

THE LAND
It is difficult for me to not make some personal comparisons when I read about Pakistan. In some ways, it reminds me of Texas, my own home land. The physical features are varied and extreme. Everything from mighty rivers that dump into the sea, to streams and lakes filled with life. Though i?ve never been there, i?ve read that the mountains of Pakistan are rugged, rocky and beautiful, and take one?s breath away. In a way, it reminds me of scenery i?ve witnessed down around Big Bend National Park. The coastlines, and snowy peaks and plains of Pakistan could be reminiscent of the changes in scenery you might see driving from South to North in Texas. Fertile soil of farmlands and parched deserts
have a certain beauty if one just takes the time to look for it. Now, I realize Texas is a far cry from Pakistan, but it serves as a reference point, if only a weak one.

THE PEOPLE
Pakistan, a young country politically speaking, gained its independence in 1947. Yet, it?s ancient cultural heritage has been largely unchanged over the course of time. It is roughly the size of California and Nevada combined, but with 140 million people making up its population, which is about quadruple the population of California alone.

Pakistani people have a rich heritage of creativity and artistry. Their richly
decorated carpets, pottery, baskets and rugs, all made by hand, have been sought after
around the world. Their agricultural influence has been felt around the world due to the
export of fruit and vegetables such as mangos, apricots, wheat, cotton, rice and
sugarcane.

THE CRISIS
I?ve just painted a very pleasant picture haven?t I? So, why is Breedlove taking on
the challenge of providing food to such a richly blessed land? To put it simply, it?s war.
Pakistan?s independence is in crisis. Already, because of intense fighting in the Swat
Valley, masses of innocent civilians have fled their homes, and have been displaced. The
Pakistani Government?s military offensive against radical Islamist Taliban forces has driven
literally thousands upon thousands from their way of life into a life of terror and suffering.

When you get right down to it, much if not most of the suffering is a result of religious persecution. Thousands of families are struggling to simply survive to see the next day, not knowing where their food will come from. Recent U.N. statistics reveal that approximately 1.2 million people have been displaced or are registered as refugees, leading many to compare the crisis to that of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda.

THE NEED
Breedlove can provide massive amounts of food to help make a dent in the enormous and growing need amongst the suffering people in Pakistan. We have the means to do this fairly quickly. The logistics are already in place to get the food delivered duty-free, and tax-free to its destination. What we need is your financial support. Once we have the funds in place, it only takes about two days to produce and prepare the order, then three to four weeks for the shipment to reach its destination. The need is now, and it is urgent. There really is no time to waste.

We?d like to ship at least one 40-foot container of food, which costs about $50,000. Ideally, we?d like to be able to send even more. In recent years, when crisis struck in the Gulf of Mexico and Taiwan, the response was staggering. We believe this crisis in Pakistan is no less worthy of public support.

GIVE ACCORDING TO YOUR ABILITY
Please consider a one-time gift of any size designated for the Pakistani Relief Project. No amount is
too small or too large. No amount goes unappreciated. You can make a difference regardless your age or income level.

We welcome $5, $10, $100 donations. Every gift adds up, and get us closer to our goal.
Are you someone who could make a larger dent towards funding this project?
Perhaps you can give $5,000, $10,000 or more!

OTHER PROJECTS
Breedlove has many ongoing projects throughout the year. If you have a particular
interest in a certain part of the world, just let us know. Perhaps we can connect you to a
certain project for ongoing support. If you?re just simply interested in helping us feed the
hungry worldwide, we welcome your regular “undesignated” giving toward our efforts.

EMERGENCY RELIEF
No one knows when disaster will strike. Whether it?s a hurricane or an earthquake or a national crisis like that of Pakistan, we need to be ready to help. Your regular support can be designated toward helping us be ready to deliver food relief when it is needed the most. Consider becoming a monthly supporter of Breedlove.
