Haiti Orphanage TeensNew Vision Ministries Orphanage

One of the ministries that Joy and Kerry Reeves have started is an orphanage. It is a large compound with high CMU walls and a large steel gate that locks every night. They have a generator for their electricity and quite a bit of property. The ground in Haiti is very rocky. The orphanage compound is no different, however Kerry did plant some grass over on one side and won’t let anyone get on it until it is nice and full.

They have done obvious renovations to the facility. There are probably 8 rooms for children to stay in with multiple bathrooms. It is a 2-story building that they built a large covered patio behind with a detached kitchen. Although it rains about 9 months out of the year, we were there during the dry season so it was perfect weather. There is a very large concrete deck in the front of the compound with a nice basketball goal. There is pretty well always someone playing basketball or soccer on it.

Pre-Trip

Haiti has been plagued with Cholera for a couple of months and recently had riots throughout the country because of their Presidential election. Needless to say, it isn’t currently an American’s dream vacation spot. Because of these circumstances, the original group of Operation Hope volunteers (nearly forty people) was cancelled. I received a request to be one of a small group of seasoned travelers still willing to go. I gladly agreed.

Colton CarthelThe distress of Haiti is hopelessness.   (The emotion of the people seemed to be hopelessness. The situation is anything but hopeless if we unite together. -Colton)

Colton Carthel of Breedlove Foods heard of a kind of mom-and-pop mission to Haiti, and did what he could to help its originators on the ground in Haiti.

In the process, he witnessed the utter chaos of a nation without hope.

According to Carthel, Kerry and Joy Reeves sold everything — their successful optometry practice in North Carolina included — then named their ministry New Vision Ministries, and moved with six of their seven children to Haiti to minister to the people there.

Word of thanks to EIM and Breedlove

We received the following report along with several photo albums of distribution pictures from the Director of EIM in Pakistan.

On Behalf of everyone who received and is going to receive Breedlove food, I being director of EIM in Pakistan highly thankful to EIM, Breedlove and all who supported for this cause in the shape of donations and any sort of assistance towards this food container. We strongly believe that we will see the results of our every love effort.

Please pray for the safety when we travel to the northern areas for Food distribution as these areas are very dangerous.

Love and Peace Be Multiplies. Amen!!
